2026 Physiotherapy Nomenclature: New ZK18 and ZK19 Treatments from 1 September
Two new pelvic-floor rehabilitation treatments are coming into force in Luxembourg. Find out about the rules for ZK18 and ZK19, 100% coverage and the post-surgical changes.
From 1 September 2026, Luxembourg's nomenclature of treatments and services provided by physiotherapists will change with the addition of codes ZK18 and ZK19. The CNS statutes also amend the conditions for 100% coverage of certain post-surgical services and the new ZK19 treatment.

Two new treatments: ZK18 and ZK19
ZK18 is complex pelvic-floor rehabilitation, with a coefficient of 1.2. ZK19 is complex postpartum pelvic-floor rehabilitation, also with a coefficient of 1.2. Both new treatments come into force on 1 September 2026.
The 100% coverage announced in the new statutes specifically concerns ZK19; the document provided does not establish an equivalent special rule for ZK18.
Both treatments use a comprehensive, functional approach: the pelvic floor–transversus abdominis–diaphragm–multifidus complex, regulation of the abdominopelvic pressure system, respiratory coordination, postural control, proprioception and, where required, treatment of associated pain or dysfunction.
The specific conditions for ZK19
ZK19 is covered at 100% for a maximum of 8 sessions per childbirth, provided that the sessions are carried out within 12 months of the date of childbirth. It must be prescribed for an ordinary pathology. An additional condition concerns code VSF81: the patient must not already have received this treatment for the same postpartum context.
Broader 100% post-surgical coverage
100% coverage is no longer restricted solely to procedures involving the musculoskeletal system: subject to conditions, it is extended to any surgical procedure covered by the CNS.
The prescription must be issued within 4 months of the procedure, and treatments must be provided within 4 months of validation of the prescription. For the first series of 16 sessions, the prescription must come from a specialist physician in one of the surgical disciplines exhaustively listed in Annex G, point II, be directly related to the procedure covered by the CNS and concern a procedure that is also included in that annex.
A new standardised medical prescription
A new version of the standardised medical prescription for physiotherapy accompanies the entry into force of these measures. Practices must use the documents and rules applicable from 1 September 2026.

What practices need to remember
